![]() Bob Nordberg and I Originally were going to Big Bend , but somehow ended up aiming at the Ouachita National Forest in Arkansas. We started from my house in Georgetown, we departed under a sunny sky. We did alot of secondary roads for the whole first day , which is nice riding , but slower than usual in the miles/ progress department. We went through College Station, Huntsville and the Davy Crockett National Forest. Then onto Lufkin, Nacogdoches and then to Marshall for the night. The Second day we made it up to Texarkana and then up to DeQueen and Mena and Started looping back South to Hot Springs , where we stopped for the night. Riding up in the Hills /Mountains of Arkansas was very pretty as we hit it during foliage ( the leaves changing colors) and it was more dramatic than I expected , not New England , but still quite nice. For a two or three day trip from Central Texas this is a good one , you can go either back roads the whole way or Interstate ( all but the Arkansas section). Hot Springs was also a kind of cool place , we stayed right on a big Lake in town , very pretty town. On day three we got on the Interstate and just rode home , I enjoy Interstate riding ,I think probably more than most, Bob likes both , but I think he likes the back roads better. The shorter trips are fun , but just about when I settle into a riding rhythm i'm home! | Hero's and Villain's | Daytona 2002 | Sturgis 2002 | Sturgis 2003 | Laconia 2004 | Arkansas 2003 | New Orleans 2004 | South Padre Island 2002 | Daytona 2005 | Lake Tahoe 2005 | Big Bend 2005 | | Return Home | Map to Hare | Pictures from all over | Links | Contests and Winners | Rides | contact us | Upcoming events | The Big Kahuna Burger | Menu | |
